My name is Martina, and I am a seamstress and embroiderer.
Working with needle and thread has always been my goal, I’ve been playing with fabrics and scraps for as long as I can remember. When I was sixteen, I asked my parents for a sewing machine for my birthday, and from that moment on, I began experimenting with garments in every possible way.
After high school, I chose to study Fashion Design at Politecnico di Milano, and I quickly realized that simply designing a garment wasn’t enough for me, I needed to create it from scratch.
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I combined my passion for Opera with my obsession for tailoring and enrolled at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, where I learned to create historical costumes for the stage.
After some months working on bridal gowns and ballet costumes, I began attending embroidery courses and that’s where I discovered my greatest passion.
Creating any shape with needle and thread felt like such a magical experience that I decided to turn it into my profession. But, as often happens, life had other plans.
I secured an internship at Ermenegildo Zegna and, driven by my curiosity about bespoke tailoring, I immersed myself in that world.
Years passed, and embroidery found its way back into my life when I began stitching buttonholes and monograms for tailored garments and coats.
As cathartic as it was, I felt I could do much more. So I left that environment and found myself working in fashion, where I started personalizing and repairing garments for clients. Every situation was different, and that gave me such creative freedom that I finally felt I had found my place.
After three years of experimenting with a wide range of techniques to create custom projects for each client, I decided to develop a service that could bring together all my knowledge and offer anyone the possibility of owning a truly unique garment. That’s why I created Embroiderly.
